M Studio, Elevator (Rumunjska/Romania)

Lift je uski prostor u kojem ljudi ulaze i izlaze, voze se gore-dolje bez međusobnog dodira. Lift je uvijek u pokretu. No ako se iznenada zaglavi na putu, sve je moguće.

„Dinamično, precizno i lako za razumjeti. Radi se o muškarcima, trojici muškaraca, koji ulaze u bijeli kvadrat i izlaze iz njega tek na kraju. Ono što se događa u bijelom kvadratu, ostaje u bijelom kvadratu. Vidimo trojicu muškaraca u uniformama, kako skaču u liftu, autobusu, tramvaju, metrou, bilo gdje u bilo kojem gradu. Vidimo ih onakvima kakvima nas oni žele vidjeti, no ne možemo ne primijetiti njihove unutarnje borbe i frustracije. Naizgled su u redu, ponašaju se smireno, ali zapravo su tjeskobni, nervozni i puni stresa. Trojica izvođača ograničeni su prostorom od 2×2 metra, ne mogu izaći, ne mogu ispasti iz dijela – i nevjerojatno dobro to uspijevaju. Podsjetilo me na naše svakodnevne male prostore u kojima živimo, male stanove i zagušljive apartmane. Kao kada s prozora promatrate susjeda i vidite njihov cijeli život.“ (Szerda Zsófi)

M Studio osnovan je 2005. godine u Sfântu Gheorgheu u Rumunjskoj od strane mladih glumaca i plesača, u početku kao platforma za radionice koje traže nove oblike izražavanja i mogućnosti u umjetnosti pokreta. Od svog osnutka, glavna misija kompanije je promicanje tog žanra u regiji, angažiranje, inspiriranje, zabavljanje i izazivanje publike kroz svoj neprestano obnavljajući repertoar i jedinstveni kazališni jezik. Stil kompanije često se opisuje kao na granici između suvremenog plesa, pokreta i fizičkog kazališta, stvarajući estetiku nalik fuziji. Predstave M Studija visoko su cijenjene na međunarodnim plesnim i kazališnim festivalima – osim na rumunjskim festivalima, kompanija je tijekom posljednjih 5 godina bila pozvana na nastupe u Mađarskoj, Bugarskoj, Hrvatskoj, Njemačkoj, Srbiji, Slovačkoj, Poljskoj, Iranu, Dominikanskoj Republici, Portugalu, Grčkoj, Maroku, Armeniji, Litvi i Egiptu.

The elevator is a narrow space where people get on and off, going up and down without getting in touch with each other. The elevator is always on the move. But if suddenly it gets stuck on the way, anything can happen.

“Dynamic, precise and easy to decode. It’s about men, three men, who enter the white square and leave it only at the end. What happens in the white square stays in the white square. We see three men in uniforms, joltin’ in the elevator, on a bus, on a tram, on a metro, anywhere in any city. We see them how they wantus to see nonetheless we can’t help but notice their inner struggles and frustrations as well.Seemingly they are ok, take notice, behave calm but they are anxious, nervous, full of stress.The three performers are limited by the 2x2m space, can’t step out, can’t fall out of the part – and they manage to that incredibly well. It reminded me of our everyday small spaces we live in, tiny flats and suffocating apartments. It’s like when you look across your neighbour from your window and you can see their whole lives in it.“ (Szerda Zsófi)

M Studio was established in 2005 in Sfantu Gheorghe, Romania by young actors and dancers, initially functioning as a workshop platform searching for new forms of expressions and possibilities in the art of movement. Since its foundation the company’s prior mission is to promote the genre in the region to engage, inspire, entertain and challenge audiences by its constantly renewing repertoir and unique theatrical language. The company’s style is often described as borderline between contemporary dance, movement and physical theatre creating a fusion-like aesthetics.
