Gordana Trajković is the new artistic director of the PUF International Theater Festival
Gordana Trajković was proposed as the new artistic director of the PUF International Theater Festival by the SAKUD Management Board and confirmed by the SAKUD Assembly.
Gordana Trajković (Pula, 1974), a graduate art historian and anglicist, has been active in culture, independent theater, and the performing arts for more than three decades. Since 1989, she has been a member of the Dr. INAT Theater from Pula, where, alongside Šandor Slacki the Elder, she is one of the key pillars of artistic and organizational continuity. Through her long-standing work, she contributes to the preservation and development of the recognizable identity of this independent physical and research theater, as well as to the cultural and social life of Pula. She is particularly dedicated to physical, non-verbal, and experimental theater, interdisciplinary performing practices, and the exploration of new stage spaces. By combining theoretical knowledge with direct artistic experience, she has developed an in-depth understanding of collective creation, diverse performing poetics, and the specificities of independent production.
As a performer, she has appeared in numerous plays, performances, original productions, and international co-productions, representing INAT’s work at festivals and guest appearances in Croatia and abroad. Her theatrical engagement encompasses acting, stage movement, choreography, and costume design, as well as work as an assistant director and executive producer. In addition, she has gained extensive experience in the organization, production, and coordination of cultural programs, festivals, and international collaborations, as well as in curatorial and educational projects aimed at audience development. She has been connected with the PUF International Theater Festival since its early days. She participated in the realization of the festival’s second edition and as an actress in the international theater project Anno Domini 2. Three decades later, as one of the two executive producers of the 31st PUF, she connected her long-standing knowledge of the festival’s artistic identity with the practical experience of its realization.
Intensive artistic collaboration and personal connection with Branko Sušac, the creator of INAT and artistic director of PUF, as well as her lasting commitment to Pula, are an important part of her professional and artistic journey. As the selector and artistic director of the 33rd PUF, she continues to build on the festival’s legacy, opening up space for new authors, contemporary performing practices, and international exchange. Her vision is to preserve the research character of PUF and further develop it as a recognizable place of artistic encounter, as well as an important factor in the cultural life of Pula, Istria, and Croatia.
